This is the worst I have ever been since leaving The War Zone/Hell. Except for the entire month of February last year when I battled the flu which turned into pneumonia . I’m still here and to me things are still going great. I’m not done living the wonderful life I was meant to! Since mid-February 2014 I was passive in doing anything about the flu symptoms. I didn’t take any meds until my hands and body started shaking and feeling that I have aged 30 to 40 years that I have turned to a pain reliever for help. In less than two hours I was feeling much better and now 24 hours later except for the cold sore I am feeling almost 100%.
Some people would buy the brand name; however, I bought a “no name”/generic form of Acetaminophen, same dosage as the brand name but cheaper. I have used brand name OTC meds for allergies, pain, cold and the flu until the pharmacies started selling generic brands. For all four situations, I have found that the generic brand is comparable to the Brand name products in the dosage levels of the main medicinal ingredients. Some people would stick to the Brand name regardless of their socioeconomic class but this Blogger is practical. I like to save money whenever I can and as someone who wants her home kept clean, I spend money on cleaning supplies. Thank goodness for dollar stores!
It has just occurred to me now as I’m writing this that I have energy to do other things.
Could the flu have left my body for good, i.e.until next year same time?
How to tell if it’s a cold or the flu (WebMD):
|Fever||Sometimes, usually mild||Usual; higher (100-102 F; occasionally higher, especially in young children); lasts 3 to 4 days|
|General Aches, Pains||Slight||Usual; often severe|
|Fatigue, Weakness||Sometimes||Usual; can last 2 to 3 weeks|
|Extreme Exhaustion||Never||Usual; at the beginning of the illness|
|Chest Discomfort, Cough||Mild to moderate; hacking cough||Common; can become severe|
My normal body temperature is around 35C and so when I was taking my temperature in the passed past 3-4 days it started off at 37.1C, the day after taking lemons in my tea the temperature went down to 36.6C, and as of this afternoon it’s 36.9C (97.9F).
When you know what your body temperature is, that’s how you can tell that something is still going on in your body. So, looks like I’m not out of the woods yet. My body is still fighting the cold. Looks like I may have something between a cold and flu now. Except that I have had body aches that hurt too much. The collar bone especially hurt – sharp pain. After the pain med I’m fine now. No muscle aches and pains. Perhaps I’m tired because my muscles are tired? That’s possible, I guess. Perhaps if I had taken the pain med as soon as I had the first sign of muscle aches and pains, I wouldn’t be tired now. But I tried to let it be but during this time and especially Thursday and Friday I felt that I had aged 30 years!
Even though I have a few people in my life, I can’t depend on them at the crucial moment. They, too, have their struggles. Relationships don’t happen for me because each person met all the criteria I’m looking for. Relationships happen during conversations. Meeting at a place where you have common interests.
I knew that when I left The War Zone/Hell, that I’d be on my own in every way. I was okay with it and happy about it. But there is a part of me that has needs. We all have them. To lean on each other.
And I think, to-date, this is the longest Blog I have ever written! In this Blog and in the other one “Fitness Through Walking”. There is something about this I’m going to talk about soon, but for now I feel like getting up and doing something.
Hope the rest of this winter finds you in better health and hopefully – flu and common cold free!
Maybe I’ve been feeling like sleeping because two weeks for me could be just enough time to stay in the no-goals mode even after the flu/cold is gone. That’s the catch isn’t it? The body needs rest when the immune system (the maintenance guy) cleans my body from the virus/bacteria.
On the plus side, though, I did use the gym twice last week for 1.5 each day. I forced myself to go. I really didn’t feel like it, but I did it. Hurrah!
